Workshop Presenter
I am an experienced drama teacher, having taught privately, in schools, adult education, and community organisations over many years. I'm an experienced workshop presenter, covering a wide range of topics. I'm a published children’s author, working full time on my writing, school/ early childhood visits, workshop presentations, and guest speaking.
I ran the oral language programme for 5 years at a Waikato regional primary school. I'm passionate about children and their ongoing learning, and firmly believe every child has potential, and recognise that sometimes it is the adults who need help to draw that potential out.
Workshops I currently offer for teaching/support staff. Other workshops can be available, and tailor made to suits individual needs.
"Acting Up' - an introduction to drama in the classroom: Using poetry and drama to improve oral language which is the crucial ingredient for creative writing.
Many teachers see the value of drama in the classroom but don’t know how to run a session with their students. Learn simple ideas to get you started. Before you know it, you’ll be the expert.
Rhyme and rhythm is an important tool in helping children explore and improve their oral language. Drama takes it that step further as children find ideas, and disappear into the magical world of imagination. A course designed for teachers.
Aimed at pre school and new entrant level staff.
Having fun with fantasy:
The world of fantasy is where most children play, but many adults don’t know how to climb inside a child’s mind and join in. Come on a journey of discovery, and learn ways to increase children's oral language.
Written in conjunction with Kenzi Larsen an experienced Playcentre facilitator, and mother of three.
